FOUR STUDENTS AND DRIVER INJURED IN PE ELL SCHOOL BUS CRASH; SEMI CRASHES INTO LOCAL RV LOT

PE ELL – A Pe Ell School District bus carrying 30 students crashed near Pe Ell Wednesday afternoon, injuring several students and the driver.

State Patrol Trooper Will Finn said that the bus left the roadway at the intersection of Katula Road and State Route 6 at about 2:15 p.m. Witnesses following the bus at the time of the crash told troopers that the bus drifted off the road to the right. The school bus went through brush and eventually struck a tree head-on about 60 feet from the highway.

Lewis County Fire District 6 Fire Chief Ken Cardinale says the driver suffered some fractures and bruises. He along with four students were taken to Providence-Centralia Hospital for evaluation and treatment. Chief Cardinale says, “fortunately no one was seriously hurt.”
